“Seeing there be many things that increase vanity, what is
man the better?”
Ecclesiastes 6:11
I just need
to rant a bit. Guess what ridiculous image thing I discovered today?
As if we don’t
have enough unrealistic body expectations, tactics and measurements out there,
now there is the piece of paper test.
It’s more
self-explanatory than you’d think. Take a white piece of paper, one which is 8 x
10. Next hold in against your midriff, vertically. And the “logic” is as
follows:
If you have
a waist size larger than the width of this paper, you are fat.
Arrgh.
I can go on
and on about danger body image, eating disorders and slaughter self-esteem.
Yet, it
appears we keep rolling out these harmful practices.
When will it
stop?
It the
culture now insists on this stupid thing, then, let’s, by all means necessary,
apply the rock and the scissors to this stupid paper chase.
“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that
exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every
thought to the obedience of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 10:5
We are
certainly worth more than a piece of paper!
