Jesus is the reason for the season. We’ve all heard that
expression. Most of us have seen nativity display of Baby Jesus, even “A
Charlie Brown Christmas” has the character of Linus reciting scripture,
pointing to Jesus, while stating,” that’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie
Brown.”
But when we’re challenged by stress: emotional, familial,
eating disorder and spiritual, just to name a few, it’s difficult to keep that
Jesus reason as the center of the whole thing. Maybe we even think we’ll get
around to truly celebrating Him when this or that is better/perfect. We can
find ourselves waiting a lon-n-n-ng time, can’t we?
But isn’t that the best time, the best reason for Jesus?
When we’re less than perfect, less than pulled together, less than healthy or
serene? After all…
“On hearing this, Jesus
said, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.’”
“On hearing this, Jesus
said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have
not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’"
“Jesus answered them, ‘It is
not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.’”
So, whatever state of hot mess you may find yourself, don’t
beat yourself up about it. Instead, remember, go to and apply Jesus, “the
reason for the season.” Jesus. That’s what it’s all about. You’ll be okay. Call
the Doctor!
