With the recent controversy over a Cindy Crawford image, I’m
shaking my head and asking myself, “Is it really that important?”
Please read…
“An unretouched leaked photo of Cindy Crawford from a
Marie Claire magazine photo shoot has spurred lawsuit threats after the
photographer who snapped the picture threatened to sue the Telegraph newspaper
if they didn't remove the unflattering image from its website.
Attorneys claimed the leaked
photo was Photoshopped to make Crawford look as if she has saggy skin, wrinkles
and cellulite on her stomach and thighs, TMZ reported March 1. In a cease and desist letter, lawyers said the photographer
stated the leaked photo was altered.
"It has been falsely
claimed that this photograph represents an un-retouched image of Cindy
Crawford. This is not true," photographer John Russo said in a sworn
statement. "It is a fraudulent altered version of my photograph."
Ironically, Cindy was widely
praised after the unretouched photo surfaced online, with fans saying they
loved the picture because it showed Crawford, 49, looking "real" and
honest…
…While Crawford's photographer
claims the photo was doctored to make her look old and saggy, Marie Claire
magazine confirmed its authenticity in a statement last month, calling the
photo "real and honest."
The magazine explained:
"An unretouched photo of Cindy Crawford has been circulating on Twitter
this morning, revealing a body that defies expectations—it is real, it is
honest, and it is gorgeous ... Its origins are actually from a December 2013
cover story from Marie Claire Mexico and Latin America."
In response to the Internet
scuttlebutt, Crawford's husband, Rande Gerber, posted an extremely flattering
Instagram photo of Cindy lying poolside in a bikini...
Crawford, who has been a
supermodel for more than 30 years, previously revealed she wants to "come
to terms" with her body by age 50. "I'm a normal woman," Cindy
told Net-a-Porter. "Sometimes I feel pretty good and some days I'm like,
'Oh my God, nothing fits.' By the time I am 50, I want to have come to terms
with my body..."
Cindy is a beauty. She has a great face and body. And we’re
focusing so much attention on those attributes, to the dismissal of others. She
is a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a business woman. She’s intelligent
and thoughtful. And that’s just for starters. We really don’t know her; let’s
be honest. But it’s ridiculous to reduce her to just her physical features
which are, yes, aging.
Just like the rest of us.
