Enough

I love this post I recently caught.

It’s of vital significance to any of us who never feel we’re enough in life. Repeatedly, in our minds, we are stabbed by such statements...

I am not good enough...

I didn’t do enough...

My efforts aren’t enough...

Indeed, that is the key word: enough.

Its definition reads...

“as much or as many as required.”

And that’s the sticking point for many of us. The idea of satisfactorily meeting that “as much or as many” standard leaves us all wanting.

So, to that, I offer another definition of enough: God’s grace.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

Here is a major shocker: God does not expect us to be perfect.

“For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are dust.”

Psalms 103:14

Hence, His Grace. It’s not there IF we need it, but WHEN we need it.

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.”

2 Corinthians 9:8

We WILL need it; there is no exception to this rule.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”

Romans 3:23

However, many of us don’t know that truth. Or, we forget that truth or believe some isolating lie of “I’m the only one who is this messed up.”

But “all” is “all.”  Our feelings don’t change that reality.

Therefore, at the end of a bad day, in the middle of a difficult or painful circumstance, each of us needs to remember grace takes over from any “not enough” imagination we could ever tell ourselves.

It is there; it is reliable.

And, in that unchanging context, we have the permission to go to the revelation- and its throne- of grace...

“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Hebrews 4:16

Our lives are, indeed, on a continuum of growing in that grace...

“But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.”

2 Peter 3:18

It is okay. YOU are okay. Grace, grace, grace: go to it, grow IN it.

Grace: Enough!
