Life (A/K/A:FunHouse Mirror): Not Easy But Worth It!

Life is a funhouse mirror, isn’t it?

We don’t see the entire picture, only a limited, often difficult perspective. Welcome to our lives.

And then this little diddy comes along…

It’s bittersweet looking at it. How many of us, if presented with our crystal ball futures, would honestly, gladly take on our lives… our pain… our losses… our struggles? Is life worth it? That’s the million dollar question…

They say ignorance is bliss. And yes, there’s a time in all of our lives when we see life without all of the obstacles and pain. We view it as fun, adventure-filled, a world of endless possibilities.

However, then, inevitably, something happens; life happens. Now what? How about now? Is life worth it now?

God says it is. Whatever we’ve gone through or have yet to experience, God says there’s a bigger, more meaningful picture in mind:

“For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.”
1 Corinthians 13:12

Little consolation now, however, when we’re in the middle of our fun house mirror lives, right? But God has promised that this pain, this struggle will end one day; it will make sense. Yes. It will all be worth it.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4

The challenge is to have faith in that scripture when all seems pointless. We’re all stuck in the spiritual car, whining, “are we there yet?”

How’s your life right now? Does it fall into the category of “not easy, but worth it?” Is it both or have you restricted it to only one out of the two options? Let’s embrace both.

Let’s stare at that funhouse mirror and defy it as the end all, be all.

It’s not.

There’s more. And the more is a good thing, one way or another:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28

Not easy, but worth it.
