I just love this cute little photo here; the caption is perfect, especially if you’ve ever owned a kitten.
They tend to run things.
This funny little picture here got me to thinking about how much we human beings tend to resemble the attitude of this bossy kitten when it comes to God. We want things the way we want them. Let’s be honest; at our core lies the mindset MY will be done! Not exactly going in line with God’s take on it, is it?
“Saying, ‘Father, if you be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.’”
Luke 22:42
So, each of us needs to evaluate the position God has in our lives. Is He the Boss? Or are we trying to run the joint, all by ourselves, only talking to God when we need for Him to bail us out of some predicament we got ourselves into? Sound familiar? God knows best. And He knows what works for us and what doesn’t Jeremiah 29:11 exists for a reason:
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
God’s a big God. He’s capable. Are you and I, however, insisting on running things? It’s worth thinking about. Perhaps what is blocking the blessing is this shift in the “Boss” position. Let’s work, then, on being less bossy.
Let’s let God be God. He’s been great at it thus far.
