Haunted?

Feeling haunted lately?

Tis’ the season, right?

Ah, yes, here we are, at the close of another calendar year. A time of festivity, celebration- and depression and regrets! They don’t put that in the Norman Rockwell holiday brochure, now, do they?

How many of us are feeling the haunting and/or dread of this past year, our past mistakes and our own self-imposed definition for a bleak future?

“My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the thoughts of my heart.”
Job 17:11

Fa-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la.

Yes, times are tough; life: past, present and future are filled with imperfection, mistakes, even, gasp, regrets. We can feel that Charles Dickens’ character, Ghost of Christmas Future is only the Grim Reaper for any upcoming potential blessings.

It’s not true, even if you feel it is. It’s not hopeless; YOU’RE not hopeless.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Take this time, not only to recalibrate with a new calendar year, but with God as well.

Refuse to be haunted by yourself and your life; be hopeful in God instead!

“Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”
Jeremiah 32:27
